The results are in. After two months of fieldwork - from February to April - and a month of in-depth analysis of the data collected, Arctus is unveiling the key findings of the Observatoire de l'Intranet Augmenté 2025. This benchmark study deciphers the major trends in internal communication and digital collaboration within organisations. Find out about the 5 major developments to remember.

1. The intranet, still essential to business performance

Indispensable for internal communicationthe intranet remains a strategic pillarwhatever the level of maturity of the organisation. 94 % of respondents consider it essential or necessary.

Although the renewal rate is stabilised since 2023, the rejuvenation continues : 57 % intranets have under 4 years old. The rise of SaaS solutions encourages ongoing development, reducing the need for complete overhauls.

"The intranet is essential for internal organisation and communication. It is the priority source of information for news as well as for access to day-to-day applications and tools such as the directory."

2. The info-com intranet remains in the lead

The info-com intranet remains the dominant modelpresent in 40 % organisations. Its success can be explained by commitment to simplification and rationalisation of systems.

Behind, the Digital Workplaces (DWP) and Employee Experience Platforms (EXP) are growing, with 27 % adoption. These solutions are now ahead of collaborative intranets. Thefunctional development seems to be held back: the more platforms integratedthe more they require complex alignment with the information system existing.

3. Microsoft strengthens its dominant position

Microsoft confirms its leadership with 82 % adoption, strengthening its historic position.
Google Workspace is progressing, but remains behind, with 13 % users.

SharePoint remains the main technical base for creating intranets: used by 58 % of companies as technical foundationwhich is often integrated into Office 365.

Microsoft's domination is accompanied by specialist supplements : 51 % intranets include a overlay or a dedicated CMSproof of added value expert solutions to enhance the experience and meet specific needs.

In the reportwe come across the level of user satisfaction with several factors:

  • the adoption of generative AI

4. Generative AI: first steps on the intranet

The integration ofGenerative AI gets off to a slow start:

  • 10 % of respondents report a regular use,

  • 17 % are in deployment phase.

Two priority use cases stand out clearly:

  • More automated content generation (58 %),

  • And the augmented search (RAG)also cited by 58 % of respondents.

66 % of respondents now track dedicated KPIsin up 14 points compared with 2023. This trend reflects a increased willingness to measure the impact , andadjust actions.

On the comitology front, the editorial board remains the key body present in 49 % organisationsin up 7 pointsa continuing upward trend since the first editions of the Observatory.

Strong signals from professionalisationin favour of a a sustainable, results-oriented intranet strategy.

The 2025 Augmented Intranet Observatory highlights the digital maturity of organisations through a typology in 9 sociotypescrossing :
